Our story

Hope Sanctuary  began with a passion to reach the community of East Orange, NJ with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the height of COVID-19 a Bible study begin in late 2020 via Zoom with just a hand full of people. This bible study would grow and balloon to a desire to meet and worship together. We believe in the power of prayer and express this in everything we do. Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the Holy Scriptures, life’s only guidebook.

Goal & Mission

It is our goal to be a cross-cultural, multi generational Church. To introduce the city to hope of God in a world of uncertainty .  To spread the Good News of Gods love throughout the city.

Our mission at Hope Sanctuary is to proclaim Gods message of hope, to preach Jesus Christ, in the hearts of all who desire to know. We aim to reach East Orange with God’s Grace, love and hope while disciplining them into the faith in the One true God Jesus.

Our Beliefs

About The Bible:

The Bible is the infallible Word of God. The authority for salvation and Christian living (II Timothy 3:15-17).

About God:

There is one God; revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh, fully God, and fully man. The God of the Old Testament was incarnated in the New Testament. Today He offers to fill us with His Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Acts 1:4-5; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16)

Sin & Salvation:

Everyone has sinned and is in need of eternal salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (See Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Gospel of Jesus Christ:

The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sinful desires), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit (resurrection).  (See 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4).

Spiritual Transformation:

Spiritual transformation is a journey that takes place over the course of a believer’s life (1 Peter 2:2). After a believer has been born again (John 3:3-7), they must embark on the journey of spiritual growth (Ephesians 4:12-15). We must love God and love others. We should live a holy life before the Lord and worship Him joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10).

The Future:

Jesus Christ is coming again and will receive His church into eternal life. At the end of the age, there will be the final resurrection and final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life. The unrighteous will inherit eternal death (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15).
